Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED ON

The Review Nanny (“we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes home decor and gardening product reviews, guides, and related content at https://thereviewnanny.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who We Are

Our website address is: https://thereviewnanny.com. We’re a home decor and gardening review site sharing buying guides, product roundups, and tips for the home and garden.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us here.

2. Information We Collect

Comments. When you leave a comment, we collect the information in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized, hashed version of your email address may be checked against the Gravatar service to see if you have an account there. Gravatar’s privacy policy is here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible next to your comment.

Contact forms. If you contact us directly, we collect the name, email address, and any message details you provide, so we can respond.

Automatically collected data. Like most websites, we automatically log technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring URLs, via our analytics and hosting tools.

Images. If you upload images to the Site (e.g., in comments), avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS) — other visitors can extract that data from images on the Site.

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.

  • Comment cookies: If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in a cookie for convenience on future comments. These last one year.
  • Login cookies: If you log in (e.g., as a site administrator), we set cookies to manage your session, lasting up to two weeks if “Remember Me” is selected.
  • Analytics: We use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use the Site — pages viewed, time on site, general location, and device type — reported in aggregate.
  • Advertising (Google AdSense): We display ads through Google AdSense, which may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info.
  • Pinterest tag: We use the Pinterest tag to measure the performance of our content on Pinterest and to understand how visitors who come from Pinterest interact with the Site. This may allow Pinterest to build a profile of your interests and serve you interest-based ads. You can manage this through your Pinterest ad preferences or industry opt-out tools like www.aboutads.info.

We plan to participate in affiliate marketing programs, including the Amazon Associates Program and potentially other retailer affiliate programs. Once active: as an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links do not influence the honesty of our reviews or recommendations. We’ll clearly mark affiliate content in line with FTC disclosure guidelines.

5. Email Newsletter

We plan to offer an email newsletter or opt-in list. Once active: if you subscribe, we’ll collect your email address (and, optionally, your name) to send you updates, new reviews, and offers. You’ll be able to unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. We will not sell your email address to third parties.

6. Embedded Content

Pages on the Site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, Pinterest pins, social posts). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you visited that other website directly — it may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content, including if you’re logged into that site.

7. Who We Share Your Data With

We share data with the service providers described above (Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Pinterest, Gravatar) as part of their normal operation. If you request a password reset (for registered/admin accounts), your IP address is included in the reset email. We do not sell your personal information.

8. How Long We Retain Data

  • Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and auto-approve follow-up comments instead of holding them for moderation.
  • If registered user accounts exist on the Site, that profile information is retained until the account is deleted. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except their username); site administrators can also view and edit it.
  • Newsletter subscriber data (once active) is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you. If you have an account or have left comments on the Site, you can request an export of your data or request that we erase it, aside from information we’re legally required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

To make a request, contact us here.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Where Your Data Is Sent

Comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service. Data collected via Google Analytics, AdSense, and the Pinterest tag is processed by those companies according to their own privacy policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
